After getting advice from an AI bot [see page 2] about tawny owls' ‘scrapes’ I removed as much as I could easily reach of the nesting material that had been introduced by unidentified interlopers. I also abandoned the idea of using the luxury owl-bedding I had made from a piece of kindling.
I added some un-riddled, coarse stuff from the garden shredder to the existing base layer then some riddled, medium sized stuff shown at left, finishing with a top layer of chain-saw sized wood chips. Of course, the “parson's saw” would have been no use whatsoever.
