Hedgehogs are nocturnal...

but occasionally...

...they are not. This young lady had clearly not read the manual. She was filmed a fortnight or so off midsummer's day when there are roughly six hours of darkness fewer in which to be nocturnal compared with midwinter. But by and large the rule is true and a hedgehog out during daylight is often a sign that something is amiss, generally due to disturbance or injury. Manic strimming and mowing are common culprits. Given their normal, nocturnal preference, most of my videos of hedgehogs are black and white because recorded at night with infra red. HERE'S A LIST of some.
