In the English Channel, about midway between the Islands of Guernsey and Sark,

Respectively, about 3½ miles from the Town and Harbour of St. Peter's Port, the capital of the former Island, and about 4 miles from Sark, about 18 miles from Jersey, and about 25 miles from the Town and Port of Carteret on the coast of France, whence there is direct communication with Paris, Cherbourg, and other parts of the mainland; there are now daily (Sunday excepted), Steamboat services going and returning between St. Peter's Port at Guernsey, and Southampton and Weymouth.

First Class Boats are employed on each of the services, and the journey from London is frequently accomplished in about 10 or 11 hours. In the winter season the Steamers to and from Weymouth ply only twice per week. There are also Steamboats plying regularly between Guernsey and Plymouth,
Jersey, Alderney, Sark, St. Brieuc, &c.
