DICTIONARY of 19th Century SEA TERMS

Adapted from 'The Seaman's Friend...' by R. H. DANA [1st ed. 1841]

Dana was an American who went sailing about seventy years before Dum. Many of the terms in this glossary are common to British useage, but not all British terms are in Dana. Dana was also the author of ‘Two Years Before the Mast’ - a ‘must read’ classic if you are remotely interested.
